Manglietia

Family

Magnoliaceae

This genus is very nearly related to Magnolia, and has the same solitary, terminal blossoms, but is distinguished by having often six ovules to each carpel, whereas the magnolias have only two. ‘Manglietia’ appears to have been adapted by Blume from the native name in Malaya of the first species of the genus he described.
