Cyathodes

Family

Epacridaceae

A genus of about fifteen species of evergreen shrubs, natives mainly of Australia and New Zealand, mostly small-leaved and rather heath-like in habit. Flowers small, usually solitary in the leaf-axils on short pedicels with numerous bracts, more rarely in short racemes; petals united into a tube on which the stamens are inserted, alternating with the corolla lobes. Fruit a fleshy drupe; stone with two to ten seeds. Leucopogon, treated as a distinct genus in the present work, is very closely allied to Cyathodes and has been united with it by H. H. Allan (Flora of New Zealand, 1961) so far as the New Zealand species are concerned.
