Hypericum × cyathiflorum N. Robson

Modern name

Hypericum × cyathiflorum N.Robson

A hybrid of which the parents are probably H. addingtonii and H. hookerianum. It is intermediate between them in the length of its stamens, and inclines to the former in the shape of its sepals, to the latter in its narrow leaves. This new name is based on ‘Gold Cup’, which Dr Robson had earlier considered to be a cultivar of H. beanii. It is mentioned under that species in the main work on page 406. Dr Robson remarks that the hypericum grown in the National Trust garden at Hidcote Manor, under the name ‘Lawrence Johnston’, appears to be identical to ‘Gold Cup’. See also ‘Hidcote’ in this supplement, in alphabetical order.
